Fat Quarter Shop Quiltalong: Fat Quarter Snowballs

Happy Summer! Today is actually my birthday and what a better way to celebrate than a new, free short cut quilt tutorial by Fat Quarter Shop! This is a fun quilt that only uses 2 different blocks to create such a unique look. When I saw the mock-up for the quilt, I wondered how it would look in solids. Then I got to thinking further that maybe I could limit myself to just a few colors and it would create an interesting effect. I never know if things will actually turn out like my mind’s eye sees it before I get sewing, but I am very pleased with how this turned out. I used just 3 Moda Bella solids: 30’s Blue, Royal Blue, and trusty 97 white. These were some of the complimentary blue’s from the Moda line Feed Sacks True Blue by Linzee Kull McCray. I tried to keep the quilting simple and in a way that complimented the design of the quilt.
